ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Sang’s Martial Arts is located at 916 East Avenue in Ponca City, Oklahoma. SMA offers a full curriculum for adults and children as well as instruction for beginners to black belts. Our 3000-square foot dojo provides a safe and friendly environment in which to learn and grow. Exercise equipment, weights, heavy bags, mats, and other equipment are available at designated times for all students.

All students learn hands-on, practical self-defense techniques designed to be used regardless of age, size, or gender. As a beginner, you'll learn the basic blocks, kicks, punches, and grabs. As you progress through your training, you will master more advanced techniques such as spinning jump kicks and take-downs while always maintaining the philosophy of self-defense.

In addition to a wide selection of classes, Sang’s Martial Arts sponsors many special events each year. These include self - defense and other specialized skill seminars, summer training, lake training, school picnics, children events and our annual Rising Star Karate tournament held each October at NOC, in Tonkawa, Oklahom

Children:

In the children's karate classes, our focus is on helping your child

develop a positive, confident outlook and attitude. We firmly believe

that self-confidence and discipline are the most valuable skills we can teach.

Sang Martial Arts teaches by doing. It requires hands-on practices of real, possible life situations using short, effective defense techniques. Students perform a new skill repeatedly until the movements become second nature.

Adults:

We provide you with a complete program of physical conditioning. Our exercises are safe, effective, and tailored to your individual needs. You will build strength, flexibility, and coordination, and will utilize every muscle in your body. You will notice new power and stamina as your entire body becomes firm and toned.

Beyond conditioning, we distinguish our Adult training curriculum from others by embracing one of the central philosophies of Kyokushin. Unlike many martial arts schools, we embrace full contact fighting as a training tool, and believe that it is one of the most important methods for teaching adults how to properly implement strikes, blocks and other techniques. While many systems use a more controlled sparring system called "point fighting", we believe in practicing techniques under conditions that are as close to real life as can be safely performed. To do this, we believe that full contact fighting is an invaluable and irreplaceable addition to our adult curriculum.

Sang Martial Arts's founder chairman Shihan A. Sang teach classes at this location. His presence and active leadership lead a special connection with the roots of the Hoshin-Ki Association for students who study at Sang Martial Arts.
