Events

Sang Martial Arts hosts different special events throughout the year. These events are intended to provide students and their families with an opportunity to experience karate in a different environment. These events, although done ouside of the dojo, are complementary to our normal class/training structure.

Kagami Biraki

A one day event that is held every second week in January, Kagami Biraki brings all karatekas together for an early morning training in celebration of the New Year. It signifies the first official practice of the New Year as well each karateka's, regardless of rank, rededication to their training.

Haru Matsuri

Haru Matsuri is an annual weekend retreat, every spring, that involves outdoor training as well as sundown and sunrise meditation to help overcome stress and find some inner peace and balance. It is an opportunity to connect with one's self, one another and the world around us.

It's not all serious - there will be games involved that will also help you learn something new about yourself and your peers.

Lake Day

Held every first Saturday of August, Lake Day allows each karateka the opportunity to train in the water and enjoy a picnic/family fun day afterwards.

Practicing karate outdoors, in a natural setting, helps enhance training as well as promote focus and self discipline.

The Annual Rising Star Tournament held in Tonkawa, OK is Sang Martial Arts biggest event every year. Competitions include several divisions in kata, kumite and tameshiwari. This all day event includes demonstrations and exhibitions performed by Sang Martial Arts karatekas and special guests.

This event encourages each karateka to train hard and try their best. This event will also test each karatekas skills in a positive and encouraging environment.
